Lawyer, banker, newspaper editor, and industrialist William Carson Ervin (1860?-1943) attended the University of North Carolina, 1879-1880, where he studied law. He was a practicing attorney in the firm of Avery and Ervin in Morganton, N.C., and was a director and trust officer of the First National Bank of Morganton.
